Massive Mediterranean Jellyfish Greets Snorkeler (VIDEO)

WATCH: Meet the 'Fried Egg' Jellyfish

Take a second and meet the Mediterranean jellyfish, also dubbed the "fried egg" jelly for its striking resemblance to that sunny-side up egg you ate for breakfast today.

This snorkeler encountered one of these gentle giants off the coast of Italy last summer, and since the Mediterranean jelly's sting is harmless to humans, he was able to get really close to the creature.

These jellyfish grow rapidly, reaching a foot in diameter in their short six-month lifespan, according to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They're found in open water and coastal lagoons around the Mediterranean Sea.
