'The Price Is Right' Reaches Historic Milestone, Airs 8,000th Episode

Historic Milestones, Come On Down!

Wow, that's a lot of Plinko.

On Monday, April 7, "The Price Is Right" celebrated its 8,000th episode. Since starting its revamped format on CBS in 1972 with Bob Barker as the host, the show has seen nearly 70,000 contestants and has given away hundreds of millions in prizes.

Though the program has been entertaining us for more than four decades, the concept of the show has remained largely unchanged. The biggest shake up came in 2007 when Drew Carey took over as host, but the show's loyal audience never wavered. And with the accolades of being the No. 1 rated program on daytime television and averaging 5.54 million viewers each day, 8,000 episodes is probably just the low bid.
