Did Boston's Mayor Admit The Celtics Are Tanking?

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh let it slip that he thought the Celtics were focused on the NBA Draft lottery in a HuffPost Live interview Monday.

"We're playing a game here," he told Marc Lamont Hill. "We're trying to get into the lottery here. There are some good draft picks, you know, we gotta let some other teams win it for a while. We still have the most championships of anybody so we gotta rebuild here. We have a couple first round draft picks, and we'll have their strength next year."

Realizing it sounded like he was admitting that the Celtics were tanking, he tried to retract his statement.

"No, no, I didn't say that," he said. "We won the last two games. We're pretty much out of the lottery. We're on a winning streak now -- two games -- so I think our lottery chances are going out the window."
