Jon Kabat-Zinn: Meditation Is 'The Simplest Thing In The World'

Do you really know what meditation is?

Jon Kabat-Zinn, Professor of Medicine Emeritus and creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, said it's a lot simpler than you might think.

Meditation is the act of checking in on yourself, he explained at Thrive, The Huffington Post's second Third Metric conference on redefining success beyond the two metrics of money and power. "You just drop in. It turns out to be the simplest thing in the world."

"There's nothing particularly mystical or magical about it," he added. "It's about awe and beauty and wonder and well-being, and it's all readily available to us."

Watch the clip above to hear Kabat-Zinn talk more about the true meaning of meditation.
