Fox is taking on the story of the Boston Marathon bombings. The network announced plans to launch an event series based on the best-selling book "Long Mile Home" by Boston Globe reporters Scott Helman and Jenna Russell, members of the paper’s team that won a Pulitzer Prize for their reporting on the bombing. The book focuses on the real-life stories of five people whose lives are changed in the aftermath of two deafening blasts at the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon. The narrative follows the heartbreak, terror and triumph.

Producer Rod Lurie has signed on to write and direct the series, visiting Boston ahead of the 2014 marathon. "It's hard to imagine a story in which an entire community caught a couple of criminals like Boston did. In this case, the accurate story is a phenomenal story," he said.
