David Spade's Story About His First 'Tonight Show' Set Is Adorably Awkward

Back when Johnny Carson was hosting "The Tonight Show," one of the biggest honors you could achieve as a stand-up comic was to have Johnny invite you over to the couch after your set.

When young David Spade appeared on the show, during Carson's last season, he knew this, but was told by a producer to leave as soon as he finished and not even look over at the host.
