These Athletes Think Michael Sam Will Fit In The NFL Just Fine

Posted: Updated:

It's been three months since former Missouri defensive lineman Michael Sam announced that he is gay. The 2014 NFL Draft prospect is poised to become the first openly gay player in the history of the league. But with the draft set to begin on Thursday night, some NFL insiders believe Sam's sexuality could be considered a "distraction" and cause some teams to pass on him, reported ABC News.

Some of country's top athletes beg to differ. HuffPost Live spoke with several sports stars including Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh about Sam over the last few weeks and they all said the same thing: the most important part of an athlete in a team sport is his ability to play the game.

Watch the video above to see some of the country's top athletes share words of support for Michael Sam.
