Marco Rubio: Charlie Crist Is A 'Phony'

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) railed against Florida gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist (D) on "Your World With Neil Cavuto" Wednesday.

Rubio responded to Crist's recent interview detailing the reasons for his switch from the GOP to an independent candidate to the Democratic Party, calling him a "phony."

"My prediction is that by the end of this election, even Democrats will be embarrassed that Charlie Crist became a Democrat," Rubio said.

Rubio said he believed Crist to be a phony even when they were originally running against each other for Florida's 2010 GOP Senate nomination. Crist later decided to run as an independent in the contest, and Rubio won the general election.

"That's one of the reasons I ran for the U.S. Senate. I didn't want my next U.S. senator to be someone like that who just wouldn't be trustworthy in moments of importance for this country, but who would embarrass us by saying these sorts of ridiculous things," Rubio explained.
