Monica Lewinsky is back in the news after writing an essay for Vanity Fair about her infamous affair with President Bill Clinton. Pundits are speculating on how the resurfacing of the scandal will affect a potential White House run for Hillary Clinton, but freelance journalist Amanda Marcotte says young voters won't care at all.

Marcotte, who has written about Hillary Clinton before, said Lewinsky's column -- and Lynne Cheney's Machiavellian assertion that the Clintons may have been behind it -- will be mostly irrelevant come 2016.

"Millennial voters care more about the cruelty and the shaming of Monica Lewinsky than they do any of these other things, which I think actually ends up making them more feminist, more sympathetic," she told HuffPost Live. "It probably wouldn't even hurt Hillary Clinton at all because I don't think the public perception is that Hillary Clinton shamed [Lewinsky], even though in fact she did."

Marcotte added that in an age when Kim Kardashian can go from a sex tape to the cover of Vogue, shaming any person for their sexual decisions is slowly becoming a thing of the past.

"Realizing that we're all sexual beings and that's OK is something that millennials do better than almost any other generation, so I just don't think it's going to move any votes," she said. "I don't see how one party benefits over the other with this."
