Boehner Names 7 Republicans To Benghazi Select Committee

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced Friday the names of the seven Republicans who will serve on the House's Benghazi select committee.

Joining Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) are Reps. Susan Brooks (R-Ind.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.), Martha Roby (R-Ala.), Peter Roskam (R-Ill.) and Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.)

“This investigation is about getting answers for the families of the victims and for the American people," Boehner said in a statement. "These members have each demonstrated a commitment to this goal, and I have confidence that they will lead a serious, fact-based inquiry. As I have expressed to each of them, I expect this committee to carry out an investigation worthy of the American lives lost in Benghazi."

As noted in the release, the select committee also provides for five Democratic members to join, at the discretion of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). The House voted Thursday to launch the new investigation, arguing that previous hearings were good, but not good enough.
