Donald Sterling's Estranged Wife Says She'll 'Eventually' Divorce Him

Shelly Sterling, the estranged wife of Donald Sterling and a co-owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, told Barbara Walters of ABC News that she will "eventually" file for divorce.

"For the last 20 years, I've been seeing attorneys for a divorce," she said. "In fact, I have here-- I just filed-- I was going to file the petition. I signed the petition for a divorce. And it came to almost being filed. And then, my financial advisor and my attorney said to me, 'Not now.'"

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver handed Donald Sterling a lifetime ban and fined him $2.5 million after a recording of him making racist comments was made public in April. Silver also said he would urge the league's Board of Governors to force a sale of the Clippers. However, Shelly Sterling told Walters that she "will fight that decision" in order to keep her 50 percent ownership stake in the team, reported ABC News.

The two have been married for 57 years, O'Donnell told the AP.

Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com reported on Saturday that the league believes it can remove both Donald and Shelly Sterling as team owners.

CNN's Anderson Cooper talked to Donald Sterling on Sunday. The interview, the first since Sterling was banned from the league, will air on Monday, TMZ reported.
