More than 300,000 women have served in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and many of these women are moms. According to Time, 40 percent of women in the military have children. Some leave young children at home when they deploy, and many are single moms who struggle to find alternative care for their children. These brave moms have unique parenting experiences, but many of the parenting lessons they learn are universal.
