Jerry Brown Says Hillary Clinton's In A Risky Spot

Hillary Clinton's spot as a 2016 presidential front-runner has "risks," California Gov. Jerry Brown said on Sunday.

Speaking with Brown on ABC "This Week," host George Stephanopoulos noted that when Brown was running against Bill Clinton in the Democratic primaries in 1992, he stayed in the race up to the convention. Brown's reason back then was that Bill Clinton should not enjoy a simple "coronation." Stephanopoulos asked whether Hillary should face a similar contest.

"She's the overwhelming favorite. I can't see any opposition, not even potential opposition. It -- whether it's a good thing or not, it does carry with it risks," said Brown. "Being a frontrunner is being on a perch that everyone else is going to try to knock you off of."

That was very much in evidence on Sunday, as the political talk shows were full of discussion about Clinton. Guests and hosts discussed her role in the response to the 2012 attack on the American mission in Benghazi, as well as Karl Rove's recent comments about her health.

"She's got the capacity," said Brown. "But like any frontrunner, she has to be cautious and wise in how she proceeds forward."
