Rick Clemmons Tells HuffPost Live Why He Was Afraid Of Gay Sex

Why This Gay Man Was Afraid Of Gay Sex

Rick Clemmons, a gay life coach, sat down with HuffPost Live on Monday to discuss his own experiences coming to terms with his sexual identity.

Clemmons spent much of his life having sex with other men, but still adamantly telling himself that he was a straight man. His conversation with HuffPost Live centers around coming to terms with his sexuality and his own fears surrounding having gay sex with other gay men.

"I came out very young and then I went back in the closet," Clemmons told HuffPost Live. "But when I came out very young it was right in the height of the AIDS epidemic and we didn't know what it was. And so I carried forward all of that stuff to even when I came out later in life... Even after I came out there were these fears of 'OK, now I'm gay...' All the rest of this time it's been me and other straight guys saying 'I'm not gay, we're just straight men who like to have sex with other straight men.'"
