Former "Dancing With the Stars" co-host Samantha Harris has successfully made it through her double mastectomy. The 40-year-old tweeted to fans after surgery, sending through a smiling photo.
Harris found a lump in her breast and was diagnosed with cancer last fall, publicly revealing her condition in April after seeing a variety of specialists.
"The realization sort of overtook me, my eyes started to well up from tears when I was trying to keep myself calm because I thought the most important thing -- was that I needed to focus and listen to what they were saying," she said during an interview on "Entertainment Tonight."
Along with her doctors, Harris determined that a double mastectomy was her best possible option, allowing her to "take control" of the disease and ultimately feel "much calmer" about being around for her two daughters, who are three and six years old.
