Kelly Ayotte Endorses Scott Brown For Senate

Former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.), who's running to be the junior senator from nearby New Hampshire, received an endorsement from current Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) on Tuesday.

Ayotte's endorsement comes weeks after she voted for a bipartisan energy efficiency bill spearheaded by Shaheen and Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), despite a call from Brown, who opposed the bill.

Ayotte, along with former New Hampshire GOP Governors Craig Benson and Steve Merrill, endorsed Brown at a campaign event at Norton's Classic Cafe in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Lizzy Guyton, Brown's communications director, tweeted a picture of Ayotte making the endorsement:

Brown tweeted he was "honored" by the endorsement:

Though Brown is a Massachusetts native, he's now a full time New Hampshire resident. Ayotte also endorsed Brown in 2012, when he was defeated by now-Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

The former member of the U.S. Army National Guard is running against incumbent Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.). Recent polls give her an average lead of about 8 points.
