Brian Williams: Edward Snowden Is 'Blindingly Smart'

Brian Williams opened up to the New York Times on Tuesday night about his forthcoming interview with Edward Snowden.

Williams' chat will air on Wednesday night after a multi-day rollout by NBC News. The network has played up the major exclusive for all it's worth, moving from tweeted pictures to brief footage of Williams and Snowden walking down halls to short preview clips on "NBC Nightly News" and "Today."

NBC's securing of the interview was a highly secretive affair, and, in Williams' description to the Times, the quest to actually get to Moscow was filled with similarly covert overtones, including the use of false names to book hotel rooms.

Williams described Snowden as "blindingly smart," adding, "pay no attention to the fact that he only has a G.E.D. from high school.”
