Teen Stabbed After Pizza Party Gets Out Of Control

An Australian teen was hospitalized following a brawl at a 14-year-old's pizza party over the weekend.

Police said that a 17-year-old boy was repeatedly stabbed and another boy was hit in the head with a bottle after a group of older teens gatecrashed what was supposed to be a small gathering to celebrate a girl's 14th birthday on Friday.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in the incident, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The Daily Telegraph reports:

One of the girls, whose birthday it was, told of how she had to pick glass out of her friend’s face while her other friend lay bleeding profusely in the grass and vomiting while his mates tried to apply pressure with a towel.

... [A] 17-year-old gatecrasher climbed on the balcony of the house, yelling to fellow gatecrashers below, before bullying his way past one of the hosts and picking a fight with a guest.

News crews were on the scene Friday night and captured the aftermath on the normally quiet suburban street in Five Dock, west of Sydney.

The Herald Sun reports that various items of clothing and a bloody towel remained among wrecked chairs and other detritus in the yard. A neighbor said that she locked herself inside her house after a shopping cart was thrown onto her front lawn.

The birthday girl's grandmother, Christine Varricchio, told the Sydney Morning Herald that the party was supposed to be a small gathering.

“She just tried to have a party with pizza, and all she bought was lemon squash and strawberry sarsaparilla,” she told the newspaper.

Footage shot by 10 News shows bottles of alcohol left the morning after. It is unclear if those were brought by the gatecrashers.

Reactions to the incident emerged on social media.

"Dude, it was my party... There's blood all over my backyard," the host tweeted after reports of the violence hit the news. ''Some guy got stabbed. None of that was meant to happen.''
