The 'Friday Night Lights' Reunion You've Been Waiting For Actually Happened

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose.

We doubt we'll ever grow tired of talking about "Friday Night Lights," and it looks like the people who run the ATX Television Festival down in Austin, Texas, agree. The cult NBC drama focused on life in a small town where the only things featured more prominently than football are the socio-economic problems and family drama facing its residents. Kicking off this year's celebration of all things TV-related, fans were treated to the annual screening of an episode as well as a surprise appearance by one of the Panther's star players.

Actor Taylor Kitsch, who played alcoholic fullback Tim Riggins, stopped by the festival to join fellow cast members Adrianne Palicki, Derek Phillips, Louanne Stephens and Katherine Willis, who had already been confirmed to host the screening event. According to TooFab, the mini-reunion consisted of a lot of drinking, reminiscing and, of course, talk of those buzzed about potential movie rumors.

Palicki, who played Tyra Collete, admitted earlier this year that she'd be onboard for a future film project as long as it was done right. "It's one of those double-edged swords," Palicki told Yahoo TV. "I'd hate to ruin the franchise, yet going back to play that character would be so fun."

But at this year's ATX Festival her co-star Derek Phillips, who played Riggins' older, troublesome brother, all but extinguished the idea. "I love that people are interested," Phillips told TooFab. "There's also a part of me that feels like we ended on a good note. I'd probably be open for it if they did do a movie but I just don't see it happening. From everything I've heard, it doesn't look like it's going to go."

Oh well, there's always Netflix.
