Mitt Romney Makes Another GOP Primary Endorsement

With a string of successful 2014 GOP primary endorsements already under his belt, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) is stepping out in favor of another candidate.

The Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday morning that Romney has endorsed lawyer Dave Trott over tea party incumbent Kerry Bentivolio in Michigan's 11th district.

“As someone who grew up in Michigan and has family currently living in the 11th District, I am confident that Dave Trott has the honesty, integrity and experience we need in Washington,” Romney said, according to the paper.

As the Daily Beast noted in late May, Romney was six-for-six with his first set of endorsements, getting behind Joni Ernst in Iowa and Monica Wehby in Oregon, among others.

The Free Press noted that while the endorsement isn't that much of a surprise, it demonstrates how much backing Trott is getting over Bentivolio. Bentivolio's campaign has faced turmoil at times, headed by the March 2014 departure of his campaign manager, David Wolkinson.
