High school senior Harry Paul has had over a dozen operations because of scoliosis. So, when he invented something that could potentially help millions of kids like him, it was extra meaningful.
According to CBS New York, the Long Island student of Paul D. Schreiber High School created a spinal implant that can lengthen as the patient grows, therefore potentially decreasing the number of surgeries needed.

"I had to go to the hospital for another surgery every three to six months," the 17-year-old told CBS New York. "I'm hoping that the treatment will be easier and better for the children [with scoliosis] so they won't have to go through the same ordeal that I went through."
Harry will be headed to Tufts University in the fall.
