The 104-degree Fahrenheit pools are the perfect escape from the harsh winter, but not everyone is invited to enjoy the luxury. That is because this troop of macaques has a complex social hierarchy defined through a dominant matriarch.
Access to the pool is only available to monkeys with a higher status, while those lower status individuals are left to shiver in the cold.
Such a system is all too familiar to us humans, but nevertheless it is a treat to catch a glimpse of how those lucky, high status "chill" monkeys are enjoying the finer things.
