Eckhart Tolle On Turning Your Anger Into Compassion (VIDEO)

How To Turn Your Anger Into Compassion

Since reading Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth," Beth says she has been able to release anger from her personal life. When it comes to all of the injustice in the world, however, she can't let go.

"For example, I can't condone that human beings will be tortured and killed for having a different religion, nationality or skin color," Beth says In the above clip from "Oprah and Eckhart Tolle: A New Earth." "Why can't I let go of this global anger?"

"Condone means to say it's okay to behave in such a way," Tolle says. Instead, he says to accept. "Acceptance is to simply see what is," he says. "It's to come to an inner acceptance of the 'is-ness' of life right now."

Accepting "what is" does not mean you are ignoring the atrocities in this world. "You can see it is mad," he says. "There's vast amounts of evil still happening on the planet, which means suffering -- humans inflicting on other humans, on other life forms, on the planet itself, on nature."

Rather than feeling angry, Tolle says to feel compassion. "You can come to a place of compassion when you see that all these people are unconscious. They don't know what they are doing," he says.

Tolle calls it "spiritual ignorance." "Once you see that, you can come to a place of compassion for those people who are still controlled by ego and who are acting unconsciously."
