Church Volunteer Accused Of Molesting At Least 5 Children

A California church volunteer is accused of molesting five children, and police say there could be more victims.

Johnny Beserra III, a 20-year-old resident of El Monte, California, was arrested in May after police said a child came forward to report the sexual abuse.

Police said they have found five victims in total, four boys and one girl, according to ABC 7.

All five children were either students or churchgoers at the church where Beserra volunteered. The children's ages ranged from seven to 17 years old, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

The alleged molestations took place over a four year period. Because the suspected crimes happened over such a long period of time, investigators said Wednesday that they are looking for more potential victims to come forward.

Authorities said the molestations happened both at the church and other locations. Beserra has been charged with 14 counts, including sodomy, oral copulation and lewd acts with a child.

Beserra, who is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, is being held on a $9 million bail.
