Man Volunteers 'To Drive Drunk People Home For Free' In Memory Of Fatal Crash

They drank, he drove.

To mark the first anniversary of a fatal drunken driving crash, Alex Sheen, founder of humanitarian group Because I Said I Would, on Sunday volunteered to be the free designated chauffeur for an entire bar.

Matthew Cordle, the man responsible for the death in the crash, had Sheen help him make a video confession that led to Cordle's conviction and imprisonment. As Sheen noted on his viral Imgur pictorial below, Cordle told him he wanted to "bring good into the world" because it was the least he could do.

Sheen, who mentioned that he would donate a passenger tip to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, said he intended to honor the victim, Vincent Canzani, and keep Cordle's promise. "I wanted to spend last night doing what Matt would have done if he was a free man," Sheen wrote of his outing, captured in pictures below.

The good deed was the latest in Sheen's Because I Said I Would campaign to promote acts of kindness through pledges on cards. Sheen began the enterprise to pay homage to his dad, who was "good with promises," he noted on the campaign's website.
