Missing Florida Woman's Body Found In Trunk Of Car

Police in Florida have confirmed that a body found in the trunk of a car Monday is that of a missing woman.

Diane Duve, 26, went missing early Friday morning. Police found her body in the trunk of her car, which authorities said had been parked outside a Brevard County supermarket since Saturday. The vehicle was spotted by an officer on patrol following an alert by Vero Beach police.

Michael Jones, 31, Duve's on-again-off-again boyfriend, has been named a person of interest in the case, police said. Duve's parents told police that she had been living with the man, but recently moved back home. As of Monday, Jones was not charged in Duve's disappearance.

According to WPTV, Duve was last seen leaving a Vero Beach bar with Jones around 1:15 a.m., Friday. An employee of the bar said the pair left in Duve's car, and police said the woman sent texts to her parents about half an hour later.

WFTV reports:

Jones has a criminal history, and police records describe him as a violent felony offender who was on probation at the time of Duve's disappearance.

Police tracked a signal from Jone's cell phone to Duve's car, and to a Fort Pierce motel, where Jones was arrested Monday on charges of violating probation.

Jones told investigators that he had no idea where Duve was, according to WFTV.

Police said they will examine surveillance video from the shopping center lot where Duve's car was found as part of their investigation. Police from Melbourne and Vero Beach are cooperating on the case.
