Bill Clinton Honors Edie Windsor And Roberta Kaplan

Edie Windsor Receives Huge Honor From A Former President

What better way to celebrate Pride than honoring one of the most iconic queer figures of the past decade (and probably ever) -- and on the one-year anniversary of the repeal of a key section of the Defense of Marriage Act, no less.

Tonight on Logo's new "Trailblazers" special, former President Bill Clinton will recognize Edie Windsor and attorney Roberta Kaplan for their tireless efforts to have DOMA repealed, the aftermath of which has seen countless states overturning gay marriage bans.

"Seventeen years after signing DOMA into law, I was honored and grateful to be among the voices urging that it be overturned," Clinton states in the above video. "As I said last year I came to believe that DOMA is contrary to the principles of the nation that honors freedom, equality and justice above all, and is in fact, incompatible with our constitution. But the decision we celebrate today would not have happened without Edie Windsor’s dogged determination to right a wrong and Roberta Kaplan’s equal commitment to simple fairness.

In the video below, you can see Windsor and Kaplan's remarks from the event.

Other individuals to be honored at the "Trailblazers" event include openly gay athlete Jason Collins and groundbreaking Netflix original series "Orange Is The New Black."

Logo's "Trailblazers" will premiere tonight, June 26, at 9pm ET. Head here for more info.
