Hillary Clinton Calls Out Rick Perry For Anti-Gay Comments

Potential 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had some critical words for Republican Texas Gov. Rick Perry regarding his recent comparison of homosexuality and alcoholism.

When asked about Perry’s comments during a Wednesday talk to promote her book at San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre, Clinton suggested that he be held to a higher standard, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

"We're living in a time of real political angst," she said. "There's a lot of work to be done, and I believe it's going to come down to people demanding that those who hold public office start making evidence-based decisions again."

While also in San Francisco earlier this month, Perry caused a stir when asked if he considered homosexuality a disorder.

"Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that," he said. "I may have the genetic coding that I'm inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way."

Perry later acknowledged that he “stepped right in it” with that comparison.
