Scott Walker's Son Acts As Gay Marriage Witness While His Dad Dodges The Issue

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker may have gone silent on the issue of gay marriage, but his son was comfortable enough to act as witness to a same-sex marriage last month.

According to Daniel Bice from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Alex Walker, 19, was one of the adult witnesses to the marriage between Shelli Marquardt and Cathy Priem in Waukesha County, Wisconsin on June 9. A spokeswoman for the governor said that Marquardt is the first lady's cousin.

Scott Walker stood strongly against same-sex marriage until Wisconsin's gay marriage ban was found unconstitutional last month. When asked about his stance after the ruling, he said, "My position has been clear. I voted in the past. It really doesn't matter."

Walker is running for re-election this year, and his likely Democratic opponent, Mary Burke, supports legalizing same-sex marriage.
