How To Peel An Orange Without Making A Sticky Mess

This is brilliant.

Oranges are so very tasty, but are they really worth all the mess that comes with peeling? The zest gets caught underneath your nails and your fingers become savagely sticky.

Now you don't have to decide. In the video above, brilliant YouTuber CrazyRussianHacker shows how to peel an orange without making a wild juicy mess.

It's quite simple. Hold the orange by its stem side and use a sharp knife to cut perpendicularly into the circumference. It's important to cut through the rind but not through the actual flesh of the fruit. You should be cutting about a quarter of an inch deep, depending on the thickness of the fruit.

Keep going -- round and round -- until you've circled the fruit in its entirety.

Now, use your fingers to separate the cut rind from the citrus. Use a delicate touch so you don't puncture the juice sacs.

Repeat on the other side.

CrazyRussianHacker suggests repurposing the empty, bowl-shaped rind into an orange candle. A tasty dose of vitamin C and a light to read by? The orange is mighty impressive. Whatever you decide, be safe!
