'Paris-Plages' Is Back, Turning The Seine Into A Sandy Paradise

A Beach On The Seine? Yes Please!

The spot to "see and be Seine." Or even, dare we say it, a "beach Seine" (we know it doesn't really work, just go with it.)

The puns are endless, but so is the sand. Paris-Plages is back for its thirteenth season. The annual project turns the banks of the city's famous river into a beachy getaway for locals and tourists to enjoy.

Urban beach lovers have numerous spots to choose from along the river, each offering mounds of soft, artificial sand and oversized deck chairs. At the the Louvre beach, visitors can practice tai-chi and rollerblade. And complimentary concerts, dance parties, beach volleyball, ice cream carts and free libraries abound.

The beaches opened on July 19, and they'll be in full swing until August 17. There is no fee to enter.

Paris-Plages is just another piece of proof that Parisians really do do everything better... even quasi-tropical getaways, it seems.
