The last time Ann Bodyfelt saw her sister Karen Simpton was in March 1949, when Karen was three months old. Two separate orphanages, 65 years and one momentous Google search later, the two women have been reunited in a truly inspiring story of perseverance and faith.
"It was just unbelievable. It was an answer to prayer because I could never find her," Ann told HuffPost Live's Nancy Redd in a Tuesday interview.
After years of unsuccessfully scouring the internet, the 70-year-old was finally able to find her sister by Googling her birth name, Beverly Jean Jolly. Much to her surprise, the search engine located "an appeal made in 2000" looking for someone with that name, according to the Daily Mail.
"I just assumed that she was dead," Ann continued, choking up. "We had lived in deplorable conditions, and I just figured something had happened to her."
Upon meeting, the two sisters felt an instant kinship.
"To this day, it's like her and I have never been apart," Karen said. "We're so close."
For those seeking to get in touch with a long-lost relative, Ann has some words of advice.
"Always keep looking," she said. "Just keep trying. Look -- at 65-years and nine months later, we're together."
