'Frozen' Scribe Jennifer Lee Signs On To Write Big-Screen Adaptation Of 'A Wrinkle In Time'

Another of your middle-school favorites is one step closer to the big screen. Madeleine L'Engle's 1962 classic "A Wrinkle in Time" has been gestating at Disney since 2010, and now Variety reports that "Frozen" writer and co-director Jennifer Lee has signed on to pen the script.

"A Wrinkle in Time" tells the story of a young girl whose scientist father goes missing after completing a mysterious time-traveling project. She then sets out -- through time and alternate worlds -- to track him down.

Jeff Stockwell ("Bridge to Terabithia") wrote an initial script in 2010, but the movie's development stalled. There's no word on whether Disney's efforts will extend to the other books in L'Engle's Time Quartet, which also includes “A Wind in the Door,” “Many Waters” and “A Swiftly Tilting Planet.”

No director or casting decisions have been announced. This will mark the second "A Wrinkle in Time" film, the first being a 2003 television movie that L'Engle openly disliked. "I expected it to be bad, and it is," she told Newsweek in 2004.

Here's hoping for better luck this time.
