Beyonce will take over the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 24. Nominated for eight VMAs, she'll also receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and take the stage to perform.

"Not many singers have the power or ability to command such a massive legion of fans, drop a number one album out of literally nowhere and take the world by storm tour after tour," MTV said in a statement posted online. "Beyoncé has proved time and time again that she is the standard to which all other performers must measure up."

Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, the Beastie Boys and of course Michael Jackson are some of the past Video Vanguard recipients, all of whom were honored for their total body of work.

This will be Beyonce's fourth performance at the VMAs. Usher, Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer and Maroon 5 are already slated to play during the show.

This year, Beyonce is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Collaboration, Best Video with a Social Message, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Choreography and Best Direction. During her career she's won 11 VMAs.
