Rick Perry Gets Biblical In Message To Christian Conservatives

Rick Perry: 'Here Am I. Send Me!'

Texas Gov. Rick Perry paid a visit to Iowa this weekend to court conservative Christian voters, sending a pretty biblical message to Republicans in the key 2016 state.

"Here am I. Send me," Perry said in a speech at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames on Saturday, quoting from the book of Isaiah. "That is your challenge. That is our challenge."

"If you're concerned about the family unit in America today, about children that are raised by video games and parents that are shuffling from job to job, then stand in the gap and proclaim, 'Here am I! Send me!'" Perry continued, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Perry didn't limit the call to service to himself, telling the crowd "we've all been called to duty," according to Breitbart.

"I tell you, somebody's values are going to get legislated -- the question is whose values are going to get legislated," Perry said.

Perry was one of many Republicans visiting Iowa this weekend during the summit. He's been going to Iowa a lot lately, prepping for a potential presidential run in 2016. Perry finished fifth in the 2012 Iowa caucus, and quit the race shortly after.
