New Jersey Man Fatally Stabbed In Alleged Love Triangle

A New Jersey man, fatally stabbed in an apparent domestic dispute, may have been involved in a love triangle, according to family members.

Amaury Maldonado, 34, was found dead in his estranged wife's home early Thursday, according to police.

Distraught relatives told WCBS that the father of three had been going through a messy divorce, and that he possibly showed up at his wife's home, jealous that she was with another man.

“I know deep inside that she really loved him, and I’m pretty sure she didn’t really have anything to do with this. It’s all coming down to the guy that was there,” Luis Cruz, Maldonado's wife's cousin, told the station. “And this person that did this, we -- we’ve got a good idea of who it is. Let’s hope the cops find him.”

Despite that hunch, police have yet to name a suspect in the fatal stabbing. No charges have been filed.

Police said two people at the house were allowed to leave. Their names are being withheld.

Cops said the investigation is active, but it appears Maldonado entered the home and was stabbed. Officers were dispatched at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, and Maldonado, who was found on the sidewalk, was pronounced dead shortly before 6 a.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Daniewicz of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-4018, or Detective Freeman of the Carteret Police Department at (732) 541-3862.
