ABC News Is Making Some Big Changes

ABC News announced a series of leadership changes on Tuesday ahead of Diane Sawyer's departure from the "World News" anchor chair this week.

"Nightline" executive producer Almin Karamehmedovic will be the new executive producer for "World News," taking over for Michael Corn, who will become the senior executive producer for "Good Morning America." Tom Cibrowski, the current senior executive producer for "GMA," will become senior vice president of ABC News.

ABC News president James Goldston announced the shifts in a memo on Tuesday, praising both Karamehmedovic and Corn.

"I am thrilled that [Corn] is returning to the morning broadcast where he was a senior producer for eight years before joining World News," Goldston wrote.

The changes come as Sawyer steps down this week after five years of anchoring "World News." She will now focus "full time on new programming," the network announced in June. David Muir, currently the weekend anchor of "World News," will take over for Sawyer on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
