Majorities Of These Four World Religions Live In Just One Or Two Countries

The world is highly diverse religiously and otherwise, particularly with the ever-increasing trends of globalization and cultural mixing. But even with the spread of traditions and beliefs around the globe, four of the world's major religious groups exist by a majority in just one or two countries.

1. Unaffiliated

The religiously unaffiliated comprise more than 16 percent of the globe's population, according to a 2012 Pew report -- which makes them the third largest religious group in the world. A full 62 percent of the world's religiously unaffiliated reside in China, which makes sense for a country that has long had a fraught relationship with faith.

2. Hinduism

Hinduism is the fourth largest religious category in the world, and it is also the most concentrated religion. Ninety-four percent of all Hindus live in India, the country where it originated.

3. Judaism

Despite its prominence in world politics and history, Judaism is one of the smaller world religions and is concentrated in just two countries. The world's Jews comprise 0.2 percent of the population -- 81 percent of whom reside in the United States and Israel.

4. Buddhism

Just over seven percent of the world's population is Buddhist, and a full 50 percent of them live in China. Ninety-nine percent of Buddhists live in the Asia-Pacific region, in general, according Pew.
