Protesting Relatives Of Abductees Reportedly Break Into Iraqi Parliament, Vandalize Building

REPORT: Abductees' Relatives Break Into Parliament, Vandalize The Building

BAGHDAD, Sept 2 (Reuters) - More than 100 family members of missing soldiers abducted by Islamic State in June broke into parliament and vandalized the building on Tuesday, a witness in the parliament told Reuters.

The relatives of soldiers taken by the militant group from Tikrit north of Baghdad had been scheduled to address parliament about the fate of their loved ones. Instead, they started to violently protest outside the building, according to witnesses, and later forced their way inside the building.

A witness inside the parliament said: "They broke into parliament. They roughed up some guards and officials. They broke the equipment (inside the assembly hall)." (Reporting By Raheem Salman, Ned Parker; editing by John Stonestreet)
