Piers Morgan is officially done at CNN.
The former host tweeted the news on Twitter Tuesday morning in typical 'Piers Morgan on Twitter' fashion:
BREAKING NEWS: I am no longer a @CNN employee.
Lots of people probably thought, "wait, weren't you ALREADY no longer at CNN?" Well, technically, Morgan remained under contract with the network even after his talk show was canceled in March. While announcing the news Tuesday, he said he was offered a new gig by CNN chief Jeff Zucker, but decided to decline.
I was offered a new 2-year deal by @CNN boss Jeff Zucker to host 40 big interview 'specials'.
But after considerable thought, I decided not to accept it - and to try pastures new.
I had a fantastic time in my 4 years @CNN and have huge respect for Jeff & all the people who work there. Great company, great network.
I wouldn't crack the champagne open too quickly though, @NRA - I haven't finished with you lot yet.
Judging from the last tweet, Morgan intends to keep up his gun control crusade.
