The world lost an icon of comedy on Thursday when Joan Rivers passed away at 81. For Emmy Award winner Raúl De Molina, Rivers' death also meant the loss of the woman who jump-started his decades-long TV career.

In an interview with HuffPost Live on Thursday, the Univision host credited Rivers for giving him his big break and lamented the comedian's death.

When De Molina was working as a celebrity photographer, he made several appearances on “The Joan Rivers Show” to dish on the latest Hollywood gossip. Rivers’ show got him noticed by Univision, where he landed an on-screen gig and where he has remained for the last 18 years.
