Rick Perry's Legal Team Files Motion To Quash And Dismiss Indictment

Perry's Legal Team Takes First Steps Against Indictment

Texas Gov. Rick Perry's legal team filed a motion Monday to quash and dismiss his indictment.

Perry was indicted in August for allegedly abusing the powers of his office. He called the indictment an "abuse of power," insisting he'd fight the charges.

The AP reported in August that prosecutors claimed Perry broke the law when he threatened to veto funding for the public integrity unit run by the office of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, who was convicted of drunken driving and refused to resign despite Perry requesting she do so.

In late August, an image was sent from Perry's Twitter account mocking Lehmberg, but was later deleted.
