Drinking & Talking Wonders Whether The 2014 Primaries Did The GOP Any Good

On Tuesday night, America closed the chapter on the 2014 Republican primary season. And boy, what a season it was.

Actually, what kind of season was it?

On the one hand, there was high drama. The House majority leader lost his race against an obscure college professor. A tea party leader was arrested after taking photos of a senator's bedridden wife. And there certainly were some memorable characters -- recall the Potemkin campaign run by Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas).

But, in the end, we were kind of starved for upsets. Outside Rep. Eric Cantor's loss, things (more or less) went as planned. In an era of supposed GOP turmoil, the incumbents made out quite well.

In the latest Drinking & Talking, our panelists relive their favorite moments -- and empty their reporter notebooks -- from this primary season. In the process, Dave Weigel of Bloomberg News, Jon Ward of Yahoo News, Liz Mair of Mair Strategies LLC and Ben Domenech of The Federalist tackle the toughest of questions, from whether the GOP is better off to who, exactly, is Charles C. Johnson.

Watch the video above. Here's an index of key moments in the discussion:
