Sarah Palin Tries To Rescue Pat Roberts' Campaign

Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) may have gotten a boost after one of the Republican Party’s most outspoken members, Sarah Palin, campaigned for the embattled senator Thursday morning.

"Kansas, we are counting on you to get it together," Palin told a crowd of about 250 people at a pancake breakfast in the southeastern part of the state, according to the Associated Press.

Roberts, a three-term senator, is in serious danger of losing his seat to Independent challenger Greg Orman. He trailed Orman 45 percent to 40 percent in a recent Rasmussem poll. Roberts, 78, narrowly survived a Republican primary election against tea party challenger Milton Wolf.

"He’s one of the few senators fulfilling campaign promises, doing what the American people asked him to do, standing there on the floor with Sen. Ted Cruz to do what they could to get rid of Obamacare,” Palin told the crowd.

Roberts has enlisted the help of several Republican leaders to help him, including Sen. Bob Dole (Kan.), Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) and Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.).

The Kansas senate race became one of the most highly anticipated races in the country after Democratic nominee, Chad Taylor, dropped out on September 3.
