Though Scotland didn't vote for independence from the United Kingdom on Sept. 18, its beauty is a power all its own.
Using a DJI Phantom 2, a quadcopter drone, fitted with a GoPro Hero 3+ camera, filmmaker John Duncan captured Scotland's alluring hillsides and mountaintops from high above in a short film, "Beautiful Scotland."
"Filming this has been incredible, most of the shots have involved some kind of adventure," Duncan writes on his Vimeo page. "From camping on top of Sgurr a’Mhaim as the sun sets, driving overnight to the Old man of Storr on Skye catching the sun rise and stomping through fields chasing the Jacobite Steam Train."
The striking video, released in July, takes viewers on a journey across lakes, cliffs, countryside, castles and above the region's largest art installation, giant horse head sculptures knowns as The Kelpies.
And now those sights can be viewed on our own screens.
