How Students Feel About Being A Virgin In College

How Virgins Really Feel In College

If you're a virgin in college, calm down, because you aren't alone.

Everyone on campus is not going out, getting wasted and shacking up with a random person every weekend.

Despite the many articles at Elite Daily suggesting otherwise, there is no actual evidence of a hook-up culture among millennials. At least not one that's any different from our parents' generation.

In fact, one Her Campus survey of 2,500 college women found 43 percent were still virgins when they responded to the survey. If that's not enough reinforcement for the virgin coeds out there, just remember that Tina Fey didn't have sex until she was 24. For the men, note that Will Ferrell was 21 when he got laid for the first time.

And people who do have sex don't necessarily have a ton of partners in college.

A Sexual Satisfaction Survey conducted by Lifestyles Condoms, released in 2012, of students aged 18-24 found nearly one-fifth of college students only have sex once every few months, and a plurality -- 38 percent --- said they only had between two and four sexual partners in their life.

Having a ton of random, drunk hook-ups isn't all it's cracked up to be, either. As Maria Yagoda put it at Bustle, "whiskey dick" is real and having sex while tipsy doesn't always end up being the most pleasurable. "Truth: Drunk snacks are a thousand times better than drunk sex. Always choose the sandwich," Yagoda wrote.

Actually, one study found 61 percent of students considered love to be an important component to sex.

Really, who are we to judge someone for being a virgin or not being one? But we know some people have some reservations about being a virgin as an undergrad. So we are sharing a few posts from the app Whisper about how some people who identify as a virgin secretly feel on a college campus.
