Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) defeated her Republican opponent, Joe Kaufman, in Tuesday's midterm election.

Wasserman Schultz has been a member of the U.S. Congress since 2004. She became DNC chair in 2011, making her the third woman to hold that position.
