Rep. Vernon Buchanan (R-Fla.) was reelected to Congress from the state's 16th District Tuesday, defeating Democrat Henry Lawrence and independent Joe Newman.

Buchanan was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2006, from a different district. He ran unopposed in this year's Republican primary.

Newman's candidacy attracted attention nationally, as he is 101 years old.
