Paralyzed Dog Couldn't Be Happier To Get A Second Chance At Walking

In June, Lucy the dog was abandoned at a veterinarian's office. She may have been dumped there by her owners due to the high cost of surgery needed to fix her hind legs.

At the time, things didn't look too good for the pooch, who is believed to be about 9 years old. The Lab-pit bull mix was paralyzed from the waist down, and doctors didn't know if she'd ever walk again.

Fast forward a few months and toss in a whole lot of love and care, and check out the video above to see Lucy now.

New York-based shelter Animal Haven helped Lucy, described as "very affectionate," get the surgery she needed and has been caring for her as she recuperates.

In a Facebook post Thursday, shelter staff expressed their amazement at Lucy's recovery.

"Lucy is a fireball," they wrote. "She came to us paralyzed and now post-surgery and recovery, she can't stop moving. She is a roof on fire! We will have what she is having."

Us too, please!

Lucy is looking for a family to love. To find out how you can adopt her or other beautiful animals like her, visit Animal Haven's website.
