Vince McMahon Flip-Flopped On Letting Triple H Date His Daughter

The WWE Marriage That Almost Wasn't Allowed To Happen

Paul and Stephanie Levesque have what might seem to be a normal life: The married couple has three daughters and they met at work.

The company were their relationship developed, however, is WWE, as in World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. You might know Paul by his stage name, "Triple H." Stephanie is better known as Stephanie McMahon, the daughter of WWE patriarch Vince McMahon. Triple H at one time was WWE's top wrestler. Long before he and Stephanie actually hit it off in real life, they were married as part of a WWE storyline.

Stephanie stopped by HuffPost Live on Monday to chat about her career and the WWE's partnership with the Susan G. Komen foundation. She said that after her on-screen marriage and subsequent divorce from Triple H, neither could deny the "insane chemistry" between the two.

As WWE employees, the prospect of them dating in real life, however, was "strictly taboo." Triple H eventually had to ask Vince's permission to date Stephanie.

"My father knew my husband long before I ever did. He actually always says that he loved him first ... there really was this wonderful respect and admiration between the two of them before I even came into the picture. So I don't think it was too hard of a push. But when you think about what it took for my husband to put his career on the line. What if things didn't go well? ... If it didn't work out, what would that mean for him?"

As easily as she made that sound, she later revealed it didn't go that smoothly.

"It was not always just all roses. We were given permission and then it was taken away," she said. "In terms of the reasons why, I don't know if he was getting pressure. It was a really big thing in our business for the top star to be dating the boss' daughter and all of the implications it could have."

It obviously worked out, as Stephanie said she has her "own princess story" and leads a "charmed life."
